Sphero SPRK+ Power Pack: Usage, Charging, and Troubleshooting

The Sphero SPRK+ Power Pack allows you to charge, store, and carry up to 12 Sphero SPRK+ app-enabled robots. It is designed specifically for SPRK+ robots—other Sphero models like Sphero Original, 2.0, and SPRK Edition will not charge in this Power Pack.

How to Use

  1. Place your SPRK+ robots on the charging cradles, heavy side down.

  2. Plug the Power Pack into a wall outlet and turn the power switch on.

    • Front green light indicates power is on.

    • Blinking blue charger lights indicate robots are charging.

  3. Charge robots for 3 hours or until the blue lights stop blinking. It is safe to leave robots on the charger longer if needed.

  4. Remove robots from the cradles to use.

How to Store

  1. Fully charge the robots, turn them off, and store them if not in use for several weeks.

  2. To turn off each robot:

    • With the Power Pack on, press and hold the cradle button while removing the SPRK+ robot.

    • Repeat for all robots. Alternatively, turn off robots in the Sphero Edu app.

  3. Toggle the Power Pack off and unplug it.

  4. Place robots back inside the Power Pack and store at room temperature.

  5. To use after storage, plug in and turn on the Power Pack. Recharge robots if needed.

Cooling & Safety

  • SPRK+ robots may stop charging if the Power Pack overheats.

    • The front green light turns red and the blue charger lights turn off.

    • Open the lid and allow the Power Pack to cool—the fans will continue running.

    • Once cooled, the lights will return to normal, and charging resumes.

  • Tips to prevent overheating:

    • Move the Power Pack to a cool or ventilated room.

    • Keep the lid open while charging.

Safety Guidelines:

  • Do not touch robots when the Power Pack is overheated.

  • Do not cover air vents.

  • Do not submerge or spray water on the Power Pack.

  • Do not disassemble the Power Pack.

  • Do not use a damaged power supply or extension cords.

Troubleshooting Charging Issues

  • Charger Not Working:

    • Ensure the robot is firmly seated in the charging cradle, heavy side down.

    • Try swapping the robot with another charging cradle in the pack.

    • If the issue persists, contact us here.

  • SPRK+ Not Connecting:

    • Ensure the robot is fully charged. The blue light should blink while charging and turn solid when complete.

    • Check for deep-sleep mode: place SPRK+ in the cradle, wait for the rainbow sequence, then pair with your device using the Sphero Edu app.

    • Verify your mobile device supports Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth 4.0). Some older devices, like iPad 2 or certain Android 4.4+ devices, are not compatible.
