Sphero Robotics Missions (SRM) FAQs

For competition support, please reach out to our partner, Team Alliance, at support@teamalliance.org.

How many students can be on a team?

There is not a limit to how many students you can have on a team, but we recommend that you keep team dynamics in mind when constructing your teams. Team sizes of 3-5 are usually ideal.

Can I support more than one team?

A Team Coordinator can support as many teams as he/she wants. If you have multiple teams, it may be helpful to enlist the help of another Team Coordinator or parent to keep them on track.

How many teams may compete per registration?

One registration fee is associated with one team.

Can I use my Blueprint Snap Kit or Class Pack?

The Blueprint Snap Sphero Robotics Missions Kit was designed specifically for BOLT Missions and RVR Missions. If you have already ordered or purchased a Blueprint Build Kit or Class Pack, you may use these parts as long as you adhere to the list of parts allowed for use as outlined in the Official Rules.

Do I need to purchase a Blueprint Snap kit to compete?

The BOLT+ and RVR+ Event require the Blueprint Snap Sphero Robotics Missions Kit (or commensurate parts found in the Blueprint Snap Kit and/or Class Pack).

How is SRM scoring calculated?

Each Mission Objective has its own scoring rubric, typically worth up to 200 points per objective (with some bonus point opportunities). Points are awarded for: correct field setup, robot starting positions, mission completion accuracy, timed performance benchmarks, creativity and attention to detail, and the team's ability to articulate their approach. A team's Total Score is the combined score across all Mission Objectives.

What is the timeline for the competition?

A typical SRM Season runs from August to April. In-Person Events will take place throughout the season culminating in a Championship event. Online Submissions are due in Spring 2027 - official date to be announced.

What is a Championship Event?

A state, regional, or national event that serves as the culminating competition for teams that qualify through designated Qualifying Events. In the U.S., Championship Events are typically state-level, but may include multiple Championship Events within a single state or combining multiple states into a regional Championship Event. Internationally, regional or national Championship Events are used where geographic considerations apply.

Are there In-Person Events for SRM?

Yes! You can find a list of In-Person Events on the myTEAMevents.org website. As a part of your In-Person SRM Registration, you receive entry into 1 Qualifying Event and 1 State Event.

How do I register my team for the Sphero Robotics Missions?

A Team Coordinator will need to sign up for an account on myTEAMevents.org and join/create an organization for their team to compete as a part of. From there, a Team Coordinator will be able to add students, get waivers signed, find and sign up for Events. After creating a team on myTEAMevents.org, you will be able to create a PO or purchase your team’s registration.

Can I change my team members during the competition season?

Yes! We know that things change throughout the year. You can add or remove students using the myTEAMevents.org website.
