How to Use "No User Data" Mode in Sphero Edu

Sphero Edu prioritizes user privacy by collecting only the minimum essential data needed for key account features. In some situations, schools or districts may require completely disabling account creation and data collection. Sphero provides a solution called "No User Data" mode to meet these needs.

What is "No User Data" Mode?

"No User Data" mode locks the Sphero Edu app in an accountless state:

  • Users cannot sign in or create accounts

  • No user data is sent to Sphero Central servers

  • The app remains in this state until it is deleted and reinstalled
This mode can also disable access to community-published lessons if desired.

Why Use "No User Data" Mode?

  • Some schools or districts have strict policies regarding user data collection

  • Prevent students or children from creating accounts

  • Maintain a controlled, offline, or regulated environment while still using the app

How to Enable "No User Data" Mode

  1. From the main onboarding sign-in screens, locate the white Sphero icon in the bottom right corner

  2. Tap or click the icon three times quickly

  3. A popup for "No User Data" mode will appear

  4. Follow the prompts through the first and second popups

  5. On the second popup, toggle "No User Data" mode ON. Optionally, toggle OFF community lessons

  6. Lock the app to your chosen settings

Important: To undo "No User Data" mode, you must fully delete and reinstall the Sphero Edu app.
