Cross Axle and D-Shaft Motor Differences
The main difference between DC Motors and Servo Motors is how they connect to wheels and other accessories.
DC Motors
-
DC Motor (D Shaft):
-
The shaft is mostly cylindrical with one flat edge, forming a “D” shape.
-
This is typically referred to on the site as DC Motor (D Shaft).
-
-
DC Motor (Cross Axle):
-
This version has a different connector, similar to a Lego axle, which allows for alternative accessory connections.
-
Servo Motors
-
Servo (Hub Mount):
-
Attaches to the A19 Servo Hub, which is included in kits containing these servos.
-
The Servo Hub allows you to connect to accessories like the Mechanical Arm (D Shaft).
-
-
Servo (Cross Axle):
-
Connects directly from the servo’s axle to accessories such as the Mechanical Arm (Cross-Axle).
-
This simplifies setup by removing the need for a separate hub.
-
Important Notes
-
These motor types are not interchangeable.
-
We cannot provide just the plastic shaft caps because adhering them requires industrial-strength glue applied with precision equipment. Improper application could damage the motor.
-
Replacement parts are not available individually, so we can only sell and ship the entire Bits.
