What is the BOLT+ Upgrade Program?

At Sphero, we’re always working to create better tools that support educators and students. The BOLT+ Upgrade Program gives educators the opportunity to trade in their well-loved Sphero robots and save on our most advanced round robot — Sphero BOLT+.

BOLT+ was designed based on educator feedback to enrich teaching and provide even more ways to engage students in hands-on learning.

How much does the upgrade cost?

For every robot you return, you can purchase a new BOLT+ robot for $184 ($55 off the regular price of $239).

For every Power Pack you return, you can purchase a new BOLT+ Power Pack for $3199 ($1000 off the regular price of $4199).

Discounts cannot be combined or applied to previous purchases.

What about shipping costs?

Good news: Sphero covers the return shipping for your old robots.

  • You’ll receive a prepaid UPS return label by email.

  • Pack up your robots and drop them off at your nearest UPS Store.

  • For Power Packs, zip-tie the case closed and apply the UPS label directly to the outside.

You’ll only be responsible for shipping costs on your new BOLT+ purchase.

Save your tracking number so you can confirm your return has been received.

Do I qualify for the program?

If you’re an educator and own any previous Sphero robot, you qualify!

Your robots do not need to be in working condition.

Eligible robots include:

  • Sphero 2.0

  • SPRK Edition

  • SPRK+

  • SPRK+ 12-Pack

  • SPRK+ Power Pack

  • BOLT

  • BOLT+ Power Pack

Yes! Educators outside the United States, and residing in one of the below countries, can participate through one of our trusted retail partners:

How many robots can I upgrade?

There’s no limit to how many robots you can upgrade.

You can send in one robot or a full classroom set — it’s up to you!

There is a maximum discount of $55 per BOLT+ robot and $1,000 per BOLT+ Power Pack.

How do I start the upgrade process?

  1. Fill out this form to begin.

  2. A member of our team will reach out within two business days with instructions and your prepaid UPS return label.

  3. While you wait, you can start gathering boxes to pack up your robots.

What happens after I return my robots?

Once your robots are received at our warehouse, we’ll email you a unique coupon code to use toward your discounted BOLT+ purchase.

How do I use my coupon code?

  1. Visit sphero.com and create an account (recommended for tracking orders and managing tax-exempt status).

  2. Add your new BOLT+ robots to your cart.

  3. Enter your coupon code at checkout to apply your discount.

Your coupon will apply to the same number of robots you returned.If you’d like to purchase fewer, let us know when we send your code.

Can I use a purchase order (PO)?

Yes! To pay by PO:

  1. Email your PO to orders@sphero.com

  2. Include your coupon code and shipping costs

  3. If you need to calculate shipping, use our online quote tool

I need a quote before ordering

No problem! Email orders@sphero.com and include your coupon code. A team member will send you a quote to help finalize your upgrade.

Can I upgrade to a BOLT+ Power Pack?

Yes! If you’re trading in individual robots but want to upgrade to a Power Pack, you can apply your credit toward that purchase.

Example:

  • 6 robots × $55 each = $330 credit

  • Apply the $330 credit toward the Power Pack price ($4,199)

  • Your total = $3,869

A maximum credit of $1,000 per Power Pack can be applied.
