BOLT+ Flashing Lights - What's Happening?
Here’s what the LEDs on your BOLT+ indicate under different conditions:
In-Charger Indications
-
When placed in the charger, LEDs animate like an RPM gauge in blue, then shift to a color representing battery level:
-
Red: ≤ 20%
-
Yellow: 20–60%
-
Green: > 60%
-
-
LEDs flash while charging and stay solid once fully charged or in certain off-cradle states.
Cradle Charging & Fully Charged
-
Charging in cradle: Cradle flashes blue and the robot’s charging LED shines blue.
-
Fully charged: Cradle LED turns solid purple; robot LEDs turn off completely.
Firmware Updates
-
Applying update: All LEDs pulse orange.
-
Update successful: All LEDs stay solid orange until Bluetooth disconnect or a brief timeout.
Waking, Sleeping & Advertising
-
Wake flow: Triggered when shaking or removing from cradle—lights show an animation for ~30 seconds.
-
Going to sleep: Happens after 5 minutes of inactivity or Bluetooth disconnect.
-
Advertising mode: After sleep, LEDs light up to show the bot is connectable for ~60 seconds before entering shake-to-wake mode.
In-App & Connection States
-
Upon Bluetooth connection, LEDs turn purple then change to a custom color with the BOLT+ logo.
-
Battery level and “Find My Robot” results are shown on the display and LEDs.
Battery Warnings
-
Low battery: Three LEDs flash red steadily.
-
Critical battery: All LEDs flash red quickly, then the bot automatically powers off after ~3.6 seconds.
Over-Temperature Warnings
-
Temperature warning: Display shows periodic warning when overheating begins.
-
Critical over-temperature: Message shows continuously for 10 seconds before shutdown.
Other Error Indications
-
Bad main app: LEDs flash orange when the main app is invalid.
-
Catastrophic error: A fault is detected, software resets; LEDs indicate recovery.
