BLE Bit - Connection and Troubleshooting
How to Connect Your BLE Bit
-
Download the Gizmos & Gadgets Kit: 2nd Edition app on your smart device.
-
Open the app and go to Bit Controls.
-
Select a control mode from the list.
On iOS Devices
-
iPhone:
-
You can use auto-connect or manual connect.
-
In auto-connect mode, a flashing green dot appears in the top left corner of your screen. Place that corner of your phone very close to the BLE Bit (even touching it).
-
If auto-connect doesn’t work, select manual connect in the top right corner.
-
-
iPad:
-
You’ll be directed to manual connect automatically.
-
On Android Devices
-
Open the menu by tapping the Menu icon (top left) or swiping in from the left.
-
Select Bit Controls to see all available BLE Bit controls.
-
Choose a control to reach the BLE Bit selection page.
-
Select your Bit from the list.
-
The signal strength bars help identify the Bit closest to you, which is useful in group settings.
-
-
Once connected, you’ll land on the control screen.
⚠️ Note: You cannot name BLE Bits in the app. If too many active Bits make it difficult to find yours, ask others nearby to power down until you’ve connected.
Check Your Connection
-
Make sure your device is within range of the BLE Bit (about 80 ft / 25 m).
-
Confirm your circuit is powered on and all Bits are securely connected.
-
Wipe connections gently with a cloth if needed.
-
Try swapping in a fresh battery if the power looks dim.
-
If Your BLE Bit Is Green but Not Responding
-
Check the order of your Bits:
-
To control your circuit with a device, place an output Bit after the BLE Bit.
-
To control your device with the circuit, place an input Bit before the BLE Bit.
-
-
Make sure another device isn’t already connected to your BLE Bit. Disconnect if necessary.
-
Turn the power Bit off and back on, and try restarting the app.
-
Remember:
-
Blinking white LED = ready to connect
-
Solid green LED = connected
-
If You’re Still Having Trouble
-
Verify the circuit is powered. Replace the battery if the power Bit LED looks dim.
-
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device, but do not connect through your device’s Bluetooth settings—always connect through the app.
-
With auto-connect, hold the top left corner of your phone close to the BLE Bit.
-
With manual connect, move your device closer if needed.
-
Check the LED status:
-
Blinking white = ready to connect
-
Green = connected to another device
-
Red = error occurred
-
If your BLE Bit shows a red LED, this indicates an error. Please contact us here for further help.
